Usually story ideas come to me in six sentences or less. Then I take my time to expand and enlarge the stories. For 6s I get to send the original idea.

I started writing flash fiction in 1985, submitted pieces via snail mail, waited months for responses from obscure literary magazines and eventually published stories over the next few years. In early August 2007 I discovered 6S, submitted "Flight" on the 14th, received an email acceptance on the 15th and then saw my first piece online September 7. I was hooked, addicted, the biggest fan of them all! Six Sentences became my creative savior, my opportunity to reenter the world of fiction writing. I must say, though, that the diversion of reading virtually every 6S on the site at that time and hours spent writing my own stories caused me to complete my U.S. Peace Corps application two months later than I had planned (and that indeed affected my eventual placement overseas). But none of that mattered then or now; writing for 6S is still a diversion while I'm serving in Belize, Central America, especially when I'm supposed to be writing a Peace Corps bi-annual report or some other nonsense; thank you, Rob, and all of those who helped inspire and drive the success of this site; you have provided a wonderful avenue for writers of all abilities to stretch, nourish and challenge their creative souls.
