You’ve Got to have Pluck! The Last Halloween with Wiji: Stefano’s Diary 1971(6X2)

Went trick or treating with Lindi who I really like. She has auburn hair with a green and brown eye and a little cross-eyed too, but she has this look like I want to love her forever. I wish my friends liked her. But what do they know? Anyways, it was almost midnight and our last stop was Wiji’s house. No Jello this year but we were invited in for tea, green I think, but once we sipped we couldn’t stop talking, like a truth serum or something.

 We gabbed all night until daybreak and Lindi got real close with the Beautiful Lady although Wiji made us promise no matter how hard life gets we won’t get stoned because I guess she could smell the stuff. We talked about beginnings and ends, you know, life and death, stuff that would scare the wits out of you but we weren’t afraid and we got the feeling that Wiji won’t be around for long. She seemed vulnerable or something, still magical, yet something was different.

But she talked about pluck. She kept saying you've got to have pluck and we figured that’s being tough and she said when you've run out of luck and got nothing left, you've got to have pluck. We guessed that’s a witch word or something, but we’ll never forget it.

Pluck is a word we have always used in my neck of the woods. We often say that someone is plucky when they show true grit in difficult situations.
