Stick up for yourself because if you don’t, nobody else will.

Stay loyal to your family and few friends no matter what the temptation.

Don’t take shit from anyone, yet know when to back off and forgive…and don’t hold grudges.

Maintain a positive work ethic; it follows you wherever you go.

Choose to feel good; it works!

Eat well and learn to cook!

Richard Nixon spelled it out on grudges when he said, "Always remember that others may hate you but those who hate you don't win unless you hate them. And then you destroy yourself."

Thanks for your input.

i'm all for #3.  grudges ruin some many people's lives.

Amen to all of these.  Everytime I read another "I Learned" post, I realize how many things I left off my list.  Excellent.

A corollary to #3 would be "don't fight down,"  or as they say around here, "don't get in the mud with a pig because you'll get dirty and the pig loves it."

5 and 6 are daily affirmation level stuff. Good list, great advice.

These are great, Stephen, especially 5; it's true! And, I can't cook, but I've learned to accept that. Thanks for taking the challenge!!
