what happened to love & respect for one another?

I wrote a 6 a couple weeeks ago about love & respect of one another & our political beliefs, but apparently it has went unheedeed.

People talk about what "assholes"  & how "delusional" any member of the Red party is , so I guess that makes a lot of my family & friends an asshole & delusional.

Rick Perry helps  Texas to have one of the best economies in the U.S.

I'm not a Republican myself, having lost my faith when I lost my hearing, but I don't believe we all started with a big bang  & I keep my mouth shut about both parties.

I guess what I am trying to say is, we need to stop pointing fingers & resorting to childish name calling, as we are only human.

Sorry about the little rant, but I have had enough negativity lately.

Fences and walls are the problem Rusty. And I would point a finger at the press and political animals that thrive on divisiveness. It's called divide and conquer.

This reminds me of one of my favorite 'Pogo' cartoons. "We have met the enemy and he is us!"

side note:  we are ALL delusional about something.  We all delude ourselves in some way.  We all have blind spots and tunnel vision about something.  Most of the time, wounds from our past and propoganda in our present inform where those areas are.

What is interesting to me is that we have to see "the fence." In our opinions, we are often too polarized.  It all has to be about red and blue, Christian or non.  What about it being about understanding and love and empathy, even when we disagree

Oh, and on the hearing loss, I think blaming God and repulicans is a GRAND path.  I mean, who wants to blame NF2?  THAT'S no fun!

@ Cita, I 've kinda lost my faith in both the repulican party & christianity. LOL  I have friends on both sides of the fence, But I try not to degrade either side. Eating crow on my finger pointing sentence.

While I don't believe that keeping our mouths shut is the answer to anything, I do agree with you about name calling.   I believe that the dialogue should be respectful and measured, more response than reaction, in any controversy.  Respect for another's beliefs needs not be silent;  beliefs and opinions can be discussed in a way that is not offensive and derogatory. In fact, open lines of communication, which lead to solutions, are enhanced by respect and foregoing name calling and inflamatory rhetoric.

As you and I discussed earlier, I also believe that if someone posts something I find offensive, I can simply choose not to read and not to respond when my creative energies are better spent elsewhere.  I love free speech, and I love free choice to read or not to read.  Those things I am passionate about.  Plus, I also get to choose what stirs my passions, stirs my interest, and what is important in my life.  This is true freedom.

This line made me laugh out loud:  "having lost my faith when I lost my hearing..."!!!  LOL.... so what did you lose your faith IN????  The Republican party????  Oh, man!  You crack me up.

I take exception to your fifth sentence.  We are only human and as powerful beings, we have really created a big mess.  I think fingers do need to be pointed at that mess and the ones who continue to create it.  I need to be called on my bullshit sometimes, and so do others who continue to rape and pillage.  And sometimes negativity gets jobs done.

Rant away.
