She is delighted by music, swinging in her swing, pacifier in her mouth. She is four months old and loves listening to Tool and Neko Case and The Roots and James Brown. She garglingly, gurgling, giggling  and babbling sings along with me as I sing with Neko in our tiny apartment full of love. We joyfully sing our duet, her popping her paci out of her mouth to join in when she pleases and then shoving in back into her mouth with the back of her hand when she's done. Her fingers are not yet accustomed to fine tuned grasping, her thumb is still useless. Through it all, through her laughter and mine, Pickle the cat lounges lordly on the back of the couch watching us, finally home, ruler of his domain again.

Strong sense of place, tiny apt., the music.  I like the atmosphere of it all, certainly.  Pickles the cat overseeing it, like the Cheshire cat on the back of the couch, like Alice In Wonderland.  The useless thumb of the baby--what a powerful visual--representing the Mad Hatter.  Well written, certainly.

This is lovely, Jules. I can just picture this contented little scene with Pickles purring softly from the back of the couch. I think I feel at home as well.

Your third word - delighted - says it all.  A purely delightful piece of writing.  Thanks Jules!
