The river bed is silent and dry.

The lovemaking is rote and aimed for release.

The pages of the book are blank, or might as well be.

The scissors are dull and the night is long and the fire is utilitarian and the names are Smith and Jones and the food is bland without spice.

The day is just hours and the clock is a black and white carousel of duty.

Is it any wonder that I am going to go intentionally insane?

Julia, I am not sure either, but I am going to write as though it were.

I am really not sure you can go intentionally insane?

The one-word descriptor I use for when  life feels like this:  "beige."

Line #2 really got to me, but the whole is excellent.

I think a couple of people didn't see your fiction tag and I must say I was glad to see it when I'd finished.

This character is going to be kick-ass.

@Jamie... I'm glad.  I think we are HERE to inspire each other.

@FC, at least we are not bland...

Close your eyes, take a deep breath Smith and Jones,  start over again...

the night is long and the fire is utilitarian... (nice one)

Great  6

Fantastic description of the clock and of time in general.  You describe the state of near-dead flatness I despise so well that I am relieved to know someone else experiences it.  Sorry for you, though.

Man, this it too good. A velvet bullet. I am honestly inspired by this.

The economy with which you express this ennui is striking.  Intentional insanity is better than the involuntary kind, at least.

Too late for insanity I'm afraid, Cita! Now we're just hoping they are too scared of us to try and institutionalize us! ;)
