This Old Tree Of Mine; A Wing and A Prayer

We are each the love of someone's life, I have known mine as they left my life, and they have known me, life can be cruel to the best of us.

Prince, my ring necked dove, has proven this for many months now, everyday he waits on Patience's branches for hours at a time, waiting for his beloved Penelope to return.

The other pair of doves flew away long ago, shattering any hopes I had that she survived and that my pair were still as one, but by Nature's way they still are, as birds mate for life.

Seeing him today, I think to myself that Nature is too cruel, but know that he has no sense of that cruelty, he believes the bright red blood on the blinding white snow will rise up again so that they can begin making their new Spring nest.

It is only Man that says Nature is cruel, the children of Nature have no such concept, and maybe that is the blessing they deserve.

If I have any prayers left I pray that a hawk finds Prince soon, to end my own misery if not his own, and that if I could trade Memory for Wings, well then, all of my tomorrows will be beautiful and my yesterdays nothing more than the breath of a forgotten wind.

It may be that only we see nature as being cruel ... but there are times when you have to wonder at it's lack of compassion. But it fell out of the pililess and indifferent mould, so I guess we just have to grin and bear it.
Lovely six ... sad though.

I think that giant moon smacked us up-side our heads in it's commanding rise of last night's sky-- for this is from a very private place, and from being deeply moved (as was the post I made within seven minutes of yours.... ) This is all heart, and mighty powerful... thank you :)
