It's dark.

Does it matter?

I can spend another day wondering what is true.

A day watching, waiting, wishing, for some shade of gray between the black and white that I am told is real.

In the end truth is hidden behind the shadows of promises, and as the day winds down I must choose between evils wrapped  in blankets of hope.

But if my only choice is to know or to hide,  I have to ask if  I really care?

this is asking and needing to know. and the chose to know or to hide...wow.  which is easier to live with.

it's no wonder everyone liked this one, travis. there's much unsaid, much to wonder about. and perhaps we've been there (in varying degrees) at some time in our lives.

I must agree with Michael Brown. Very well written piece with few words, yet the meaning is pretty immense!

It seems to me that you'd only think to ask that question if you were coming to the conclusion that knowledge is useless. But in that case, why has our first instinct been since we stepped out of the trees to know and come to terms with the world?

These days when I rarely get a chance to take a six-step, this piece caught my eye. This is beautiful writing, Travis. In saying so little, you've said so much.

This is so deep and thought-provoking;  sentence three ... and four, and five ... oh well, it all is excellent

Life is a paradox.  Everything matters while nothing really does.  Love your lovers, hug your children, and dance.  What else?  Beautiful piece.

You have written a deeply existential post, which makes it very difficult for me to comment.  It made me think.  I thought "In the end truth is hidden behind the shadows of promises" was a powerful phrase.  Well done.
