Resisting the tumbling spinning spiral down becomes harder with each breath.  For this she keeps him at arms length; hiding her heart from him.  Or so she thought and she hates him for the words he whispers.  When she wakes from the nightmare of past experience, all that remains is the cold empty place where her heart had thumped rhythmically in tune with the ones before him, the ones who snatched and stole bits and pieces each time they lied; each time she cried.   But when she wipes away the sleep in the dawn's crystal clear light, she sees that cupped within his hands is her heart whole -- the missing pieces returned safely to their proper home.  And she has no choice but to surrender.

Mending someone's heart requires grafting in pieces of your own. That's why it's so hard to fall for damaged people. And so rewarding.

I like this, Andrea. Very nice. The idea of connecting with another so completely that the "others" don't matter. Perfect.
