What can YOU say in six sentences?
They met in secret to lie in the the grass, the moon hanging low in a daytime sky, watching while they dreamed the dreams of youth and hope.
" Can you take me with you?" she asks.
"I will take you everywhere," he replies, staring deeply into her eyes with his passion and lust flowing just behind.
Years later they lie under a similar moon, only not in secret this time, but with their hopes and dreams still ebbing and flowing like the tides on an ocean that reaches up to the sky.
"Mama, Dada, can you take me there," the small one points.
"Of course we can dear," they both reply, and still the moon waits.

Comment by Angela on January 17, 2012 at 8:56pm I like what Mike said about romance without too much input - you made a lot of mood and emotion. Nice six.
Comment by Mike Handley on January 17, 2012 at 4:33pm Wow, Travis. Few men (writers) can tread these waters. We're simple creatures mostly, reliant upon sensory input. You've managed to romanticize shared space -- love, optimism -- without offering much input. Very well done.
Comment by Travis Smith on January 17, 2012 at 1:21pm I can honestly say that I had not seen this news item until this afternoon: http://www.space.com/14263-nasa-grail-moon-probes-names-unveiled.html
NASA has named their two new moon probes "ebb" and "flow"...
Comment by Cita on January 17, 2012 at 10:57am Excellent. Love how it crosses through time.
Comment by Travis Smith on January 17, 2012 at 6:09am Thank you everyone - I wasn't so sure about this piece - this isn't the direction I intended to go when I started writing this, it just ended up here, so I am grateful for your comments.
Comment by Abhi Kantamneni on January 17, 2012 at 3:43am I liked this quite a lot. The gently dismissive "of course we can" speaks volumes for the love, optimism and shared dreams for the future.
Comment by Sandra Davies on January 17, 2012 at 12:48am "hopes and dreams still ebbing and flowing" - love that.
Comment by Gita on January 17, 2012 at 12:30am There is something cinematic about this piece, which Teresa recognized. What soundtrack would play behind it?
Comment by Nicole E Hirschi aka CJT on January 16, 2012 at 10:53pm I'm with Teresa, you could sell the world anything with this story! Beautifully written Travis!
What a beauty. You're so good at this heart flash. Do you realize how many of whatever could be sold with an ad like this? Talk about tugging on emotion. Just name it. You could sell it -- coffee, credit cards, trucks, shoes, shovels, cologne. Anything.
