In Canada, as I was growing up and still to this day, mail was delivered Mon-Fri, period. Upon moving down here I was surprised to get mail on Saturdays.
i'm with stephen on the postal service. thinking that could happen! :)
when I was a kid in da city the mail was delivered twice a day, and the mail boxes on the corners were emptied every half hour. There had even been a sunday delivery at one point, and everyone was outraged when it was discontinued.
I love these, Toby; a wonderful mix of hope and despair...
Comment by Stephen Torelli on October 7, 2012 at 4:23pm So true, Toby. When the letter carrier visits our building our super watches to ensure he places the mail in the proper box and at times mail is found in the trash. I can't believe it. Nice Six.
@Angela: The World Cup will be in 2014 so the winner would not be a headline in 2016, but the fact that they maintained their position at #1 in 2016 would show that it's not a fluke that they won. It's number one on my list because I'm a rabid soccer fan and wish the US had a better team.
Comment by Angela on October 7, 2012 at 2:02pm Love the redundancy of #1. The fact that you made it #1 on your list is kind of funny, too.
@Stephen--When I was little the USPS delivered twice a day the week before Christmas and the letter carrier was friendly and knew, by sight, everyone in our NY apartment house. Now everyone who works for the USPS seems to be rude and in a bad mood all the time.
Comment by Stephen Torelli on October 7, 2012 at 10:05am I believe the postal service already gave up Tuesday and Thursday deliveries.
