She's Real Smart

Yea, she’s my daughter and she’s real smart, good in math and I’m sure she’ll eventually get that high payin job, one of those Wall Street or 5^th Avenue jobs. The reason she didn’t get this one is because she quit in the tenth grade, but what the fuck… they want you to go to school all your life before they hire you, and some say go to college and that’s all your life and half another.

I swear… these people can’t think straight. All they do is read books and sit in Starbucks and spend their hard earned dollars on the same coffee we drink. But you know, she’ll complete the eleventh grade then try again and I’m sure she’ll get that job. She’s real smart.

Hello Gita, Daniel, and Bill.  I'm only poking fun at some of the people I've met during my wanderings to small neighborhood pubs and cafes, particularly the older generation when factories dominated our cities. Back then we thought that work was most important.

I remember when my Uncles asked a question and if we didn't know the answer, they would say, "You don't know? You went to  college." But they were also poking fun and very proud of us (my brothers). It's a different world today... regardless, thanks for the insight.

wellllll..... there are a few other uses for college besides getting a job. Not to go all elitist and geeky on ya, but it's also kind of fun to encounter new ideas and have discussions with other smart people and meet folks who can HELP you get into companies a few years down the road.
