A fire was burning near the stop sign.  "Call 911!" said Mrs. Black.  "Wait, it's fine," said Mr. Gray.  "It's under control."  It was early evening, not quite dark.  They watched the flames, one contentedly, one on edge.

Hmm.  More story here, I think, and I like to imagine what it is.

I like this.  Is it supposed to contrast men and women?  (I hope not.)

Perspective is shaped by interest, and reading this piece, I got the sense, perhaps misplaced, that Mr. Gray might even have set the fire. At any rate, the piece leaves you to ponder. You know, you oughtta do more of this stuff. Nice to see you back around.

It's not a fire.  Or, if it is, it's nothing to worry about.

A really fine 6.

Sometimes I'm Mrs. Black.  Sometimes I'm Mr. Gray.  Most often I'm Miss White and miss the fire while studying the gathering crowd and smoke.  Nice one.
