Unbearable, the pain came suddenly, took his breath and left him lying on the road.

Just last night – a late night with the boys, couple of drinks - a few hands of poker, surely a guy's entitled to some relaxation?

Elsie was angry.

'Give me some peace woman, get off my back,' he'd yelled.

The pain spread, propelled a groan from his stiffening lips, his eyes blurred - a gasp escaped his broken body. He never saw the face, the smile of the women behind the wheel of the car; he never heard her words – ‘Peace, I'll give you peace.'

Thanks to all for your encouraging words - and yes a typo, and I didn't see it.

Don't make Elsie angry.

Nice work, Gloria.

be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.

There are some angry wives out there, I think.  You played a common spat into a life-changing event.  Interesting.
