Pathetically High School-ish Boy Problems

I never meant to like him. Well, that's a lie. At the beginning, it didn't matter yet because I hadn't Facebook-stalked him so I didn't know about the girl he's dated for almost five years.

After that, I tried my best: listed reasons I should not like him, avoided alcohol whenever he was around, tried to hide away and do my own thing. But he's always there, in class or doing homework or texting me or laughing at my ridiculousness or giving me rides home or going to the same parties, and I can't ignore the fact that my feelings for him have grown.

If he's dating her, why is he always hanging out with me?

damn hearts liking who the mind says you shouldn't!  i like the title.  and fb really adds to the mix.

have you heard taylor swift's song about this?  it always makes me smile.  i was the best friend that stood by the boy while he dated others and then he married me when he was ready.  if you can wait, wait.  if he is yours, they'll break up.  don't be the reason though or it won't work.

@G, and maybe she gets a little rush from thinking she may be able to steal him away? I agree with Other - neither of you are bound. See where it goes.

Angela: he who dates for five/seven years means they're friends and lovers but he's not ready for anything else.  :(

facebook adds another dimension to this whole relationship thing, doesn't it?  and i wouldn't call it pathetic.

I like Stephen's comment on this one.

If he's dating her  and hanging out with you then he's a typical boy. He gets a rush from the hunt, not from the girl he already has, you silly goose.

This girl he's dated for 5 yrs. hasn't showed up at the same parties?  Hmm.  His feet aren't bound, nor are yours.    You put a lot of dynamics into this brief sketch, revealing your poetic grasp of the reach and depth and perplexity of these flirtations.  It's the main game, tho, ain't it?  Well played.
