The children’s behaviour now ranged from listless and difficult to aggressive which at least broke up the seemingly endless daytime by adding some extra stress to the boredom. At the end of the day it was the same routine before we tried to sleep; checking the boarding on the windows, front and back doors, that the curtains were still pulled tightly across as they had been for weeks now .

The night was still by far the worse I had not heard a car for days now, so any noise would be amplified tenfold, I drifted in and out of dream racked sleep jolting upright at the slightest of sounds. We all now slept in our room, every night I pushed the iron four poster bed right up against the door so if someone had managed to get into the house undetected they would not be able to enter the bedroom without waking us.

We would be trapped of course but I would be alerted and could at least make an attempt at scaring anyone off with a shot through the door; I hadn’t worked out what to do if they just stayed downstairs and just waited for us to eventually come down. The Worst case scenarios were maybe a house fire so we would be forced to l eave and be out in the open or if they got to me first leaving the family defenceless it was this thought that kept me awake on most nights.

This gave me a zombie chill.  Not sure who or what's trying to get into the house but it's bad.  Creepy six.
