Pedro and Jesus had decided to try ice fishing that cold but sunny Saturday just north of Omaha. Others had warned them about "trusting" March ice, but neither seemed to worry. And even though the unseasonable sunshine had thinned the Platte River ice, Jesus had found a nice solid floe not twenty feet from a gravel bank where both could drop a line to lure some slumbering trout. Even the slow cracking sound didn't alarm Pedro enough to give him a chance to scramble back toward the bank and Jesus. He was sinking over his shoulders in the freezing current and going down fast. Suddenly Jesus grabbed his wrist. For a small man, Jesus had tremendous strength and as he sprawled across the icy sheet, he pulled his shivering companion facilely to safety. As the two men clambered into the warmth of their Toyota truck, Pedro rubbed his soaked and freezing skin and said, "Thanks, bro' I thought I was a goner."

"Dude, yo... I wouldn't let my homeboy down--where's the faith?"

I'm pretty sure it was an "Extend-a-Cab" model... good mileage and lots of upper room. -Dude

let that be a lesson to you all: Jesus drives a Toyota, and doesn't let his homeboy down.  I'm liking it!

Your're right, Harry... I guess I was trying to go with the flow on that miscue. Sugar-all good fishing stories are about "the one who got away." Thanks guys.

LOL@ Harry.

I bet there are more guys who misjudge the March ice than those two, only they go home and don't tell anyone after the fact. Good tale.

(by the way, I think it's  'floe" not 'flow.')
