Nestled, buried beneath down and warm infrared veins, I have fallen far and deep in dreams. You awaken before me to make our ritual coffee, then shower and come back to sap my warmth, which I gladly give.

But you're in danger now, and after these many darling years you should know the words you must never say, yet you say them anyway. They're the black hole gravity words, the ones that turn me granite, toothy, clawed. You always seem surprised when my mood turns saturnine when you tell me temp and time.

Darling I would treat George Clooney no differently if he murmured "5 AM and 6 degrees", and he'd have no doubt why I left him on the street corner to repeat the time and temperature to the rest of the grizzly February world.

I love "They're the black hole gravitywords, the ones that turn me granite, toothy, clawed."  I grinned so wide the corners of my mouth touched at "5 AM and 6 degrees".  This was a great way to end my day.

He should know better! Why don't they know better?

(I was with you all the way up to George Clooney. Right there we parted company because I'd let him read the stock market ticker if he wanted to snuggle with me.)

Man, I was all worried there for a minute.  Although I guess 5 AM and 6 degrees is pretty freaking harsh.  Day of the word award goes to KS for "saturnine"!

My ex-husband used to want to talk about finances before I had finished my first cup of coffee.

My goodness Kristine - I've got one of these, except, bless him, he doesn't do it first thing in the morning but I get the temperature every five miles or so when in the car.   What IS it about men and numbers and repe-bloody-tition?
