What can YOU say in six sentences?
"You know it's bad when you can't even remember his name." She sat next to me, her hand rubbing my back in a circular motion, holding my hair back as I relentlessly lost what felt like the past week's worth of my body contents.
"Uuuurrrggghhh," was all I managed to slur in response as I heaved again.
"You know, I worry about you sometimes," she kept rubbing my back, wincing every time I threw up. I knew she meant well, that she was here out of love; I mean, c'mon, who but your best friend willingly sits in the bathroom with you while you purge yourself of last night's regret?
I sat back against the side of the porcelin tub, as a wave of relief hit me mercifully, "I think his name was Jake, by the way."

Comment by Jenny Darlington on August 9, 2012 at 10:09pm You know, come to think of it, Jeanette, I don't think I've had a friend actually hold my hair, but definitely they've brought me water and aspirin, haha!
Comment by Jeanette Cheezum on August 9, 2012 at 6:03pm A true friend indeed. Great 6, but I never had anyone hold my hair. :(
Comment by Kristine_ES on August 9, 2012 at 1:49pm the world needs more friends to hold back our hair like this.
Wow, did you ever bring back a memory or two. Excellent.
Comment by Ron. Lavalette on August 8, 2012 at 7:43pm You know it's bad when the only reason you can remember her name is that, even as you're working hard to convince yourself you hadn't stooped so low, she texts you six times before noon, sending only Xs and Os and <3s.
You nailed that regret perfectly.
Comment by Gita on August 8, 2012 at 2:50pm Make the guy write his name with a Sharpie on your arm.
And yes, a true friend is the one who holds your hair out of the way (or hands you a scrunchy).
Funny.
Comment by Jenny Darlington on August 8, 2012 at 2:14pm Thank you SO MUCH, Joey! We' ve certainly all "been there", lol!
Comment by Joey Delgado on August 8, 2012 at 2:04pm Was just talking about a similar situation with a friend. What a scary scenario. Thank God for the friends who get us through ordeals like this. I love your sixes because they merge true-to-life moments in time, with clear and solid writing. In six sentences, no less.
