The first time I ever saw the fate of a relationship determined with a kiss was in the movie, Norma Rae, when she told a man who asked her to marry him that if the kiss was okay, everything would be okay.

There are overbearing kisses, controlling kisses that press too hard. Some want to swallow you whole or awkwardly lap you up like a gushing bulldog. There are corpse kisses that leave you all alone in the room or leave you wishing you were.

The stellar kisses are soulful, soft and deftly administered with the mindful control required to be in two places at once: the sacred temple where two souls merge as one and a quaint celestial cafe between heaven and earth.

It's not a new idea, hence Aretha's, It's In His Kiss.

Ahhhh, so much truth to this.

@ Edward ~ This blog was inspired by what a friend told me about her lover kissing the way he "managed" their relationship. I just wondered if it was true, what Norma Rae and Aretha said... You'll have to ask my husband about the expertise but from what I gather "visually", it's all workin'....;-)

I applaud you on your vast amount of...uhh...research and expertise Teresa! :)

Great descriptive phrasing T. 'Celestial cafe' was a knock out!

@ DB. Geez, sorry if I offended your...womanhood. I hadn't realized there was such a need to separate the physical from the, uh, spiritual aspects of kissing.
In any event, I wrote my response last night, Saturday, and I often get...liquid on Saturday night when I'm kissing somebody.
Sorry.

@Gerry ~ Thank you very much for your sweet "normal" puckerings.

Yes, kissing can be such a personal thing, depending on who is kissing who , where & when ...

Aah Debs - perhaps not such soulmates - what ELSE are Sunday mornings for? ;)

I agree Teresa, kissing the 'one' is an outward expression of a spiritual union.
Robert, take a shower, preferably cold. Sunday morning at 9.30 is too early for your......manhood.

I like the quaint celestial cafe. That's where friends meet and they like to kiss, and to nibble and giggle and make throaty noises and to play as friends do as passion begins to heat up and things get more...liquid.

It's a fact that the ONLY person in the whole world I enjoy kissing is my husband - I have been known to recoil with repugnance unflatteringly in other circumstances; hugs is a lot more enjoyable ;)
