In The Churchyard Behind Paddington Green

(OK, so it's not 6S but I was inspired by the date so it's 13S! I hope no-one minds a bit of Friday the 13th cheese.)

A girl sat on a cold mossy slab of cement and shivered as a soft breeze fluttered against the nape of her neck. She leaned back on her palms and swung her legs in boredom, wishing her friend would hurry up. They would miss the start of the film if they didn’t catch the bus to Marble Arch soon.

Looking across Paddington Green, she saw a dark figure approaching. He was walking with a slight hunch, eyes cast down, and his hands in his pockets. His face was obscured and the girl, realising she was alone, felt a slight tug of apprehension. All of a sudden he stopped and stood still, staring straight at her. As he lifted his arm and pointed, her stomach turned to jelly.

At that moment her mobile buzzed with a text message; Meet somewhere else - Friday 13th today.

Chicken shit she texted back with trembling hands and bravado she didn’t feel.

When she looked up she saw him running towards her; he was shouting but the wind had picked up and she couldn’t make out what he was saying. Scared, she stood up and for a brief moment she watched him waving his
arms like a madman. She turned to flee but it was too late; a piece of scaffolding fell from the side of the church, killing her instantly.

If you hadn't said I wouldn't have noticed - I was intent on enjoying the story, which I did.

Okay, you are forgiven. And quite tasty, as cheese goes.

great read. sometimes things aren't what
they seem. plus it can be ones that wear
plaid and have good posture
that you have to watch out for anyway.
a lesson in appearances/judgement also.
