What can YOU say in six sentences?
I want to believe in a God that won't give a person more than they can handle, but when babies are born without taking a breath, and teenagers live in homes with parents that spew hate and malice, I can't walk with blind faith.
You promise me that He (She) protects the weak. Turning the pages of the Old Testament, I see a God of fire and brimstone and wonder if that is why so many people are starving, or if the devil's reach is just casting a cloud over the divine.
Wishing for my youthful rose-colored glasses instead of a shot or six or Jim Beam to make the pain of the world subside, I turn off the news and the news feed. Wrapping myself in a multi-colored afghan, made by the hands of a much older, faith-filled woman, I pray that I can pray to someone who will answer the prayers of those less fortunate than this once childlike student of his Word.
Even with all the questions and fears, I still want to believe in something greater than this world.

Comment by Jadie Jones on August 20, 2012 at 11:35pm this really spoke to me. we live in a very mean and selfish world. we have to cling to the bits of good and selflessness that we can find.
i know that of which you speak. i'm just glad you still want to believe. some days it's just harder to see than others. and stick with the afghan, the answers are there, my friend.
I love-love-love "Wrapping myself in a multi-colored afghan, made by the hands of a much older, faith-filled woman..."
