Too much or too little? Where the hell does one find just enough? From the time we enter toddlerhood, we're taught that there is too big ... accompanied by too small and the elusive just right. After all, Goldilocks ... that silly little twit ... found it, so it must be real. Why is it that as adults in the twenty-first century, we continue to blindly grasp for its intangible perfection, always clutching at air.

When is 'good enough' ... well ... good enough?

I'm sure I do not know.  And now I have said more than enough. ;-)

Good job.

Very creative question Tess. I cannot disagree with any of the answers below but I will add one more thought;

'show me better and I might learn something.'

Qualifying with the adverb "enough" is accepting less than good. Good may not be perfect. I agree with TLC on how imperfections supply their own beauty. I also agree with Andrea on your writing, which isn't "good enough." It's good.

love this!  and like the goldilocks reference to it.  i struggle with good enough - it's good to be content and happy but you should always be striving for more, too.  i feel your pain on this one.

I always go back to the Wabi Sabi aesthetic because its truth is so soothing:  Nothing is perfect, Nothing lasts, Nothing is finished.  It's simple and true.  There is beauty in imperfection, in our own definitions of "good" and "enough".  Very thought-provoking piece.

Toby ... I wage this internal battle between accepting 'good enough' and refusing to 'settle' ...

Good enough can also mean being content with what you have and not pining away for what others have.  People who say it's good enough are often the ones who achieve real happiness.
