From Scarborough to the Ouse - A Tour of Yorkshire Part 35

For the next leg of the tour we will have to travel for forty-odd miles in a south-westerly direction towards the hub of Yorkshire.

The City of York straddles the river Ouse, so I thought this illustration would be appropriate as an introduction. It is one of four drawings that I was commissioned to do for a small local magazine in exchange for free advertising for our business. I notice by the date that these were drawn only twenty years ago which is later than I remember - most of my drawings date back to the 1970s and 80s.

York is a must to visit for any traveller coming to the north of England; it can give London, Oxford and Bath a run for their money as far as historic buildings are concerned. I am now going to take you on a tour of just some of these starting with the Bars - the gates to the city.

Beth - Maybe if I can draw some new pictures. These have been around too long. It's just nice to have an appreciative audience to give them a little airing.

Robert - Thank you. No, we can't lay infamy to Henry VIII. THIS may explain the connection.

Ravi - Thanks for your faith in me, but please check out my reply to Beth.

Other - Thanks once again for your kind words.

Stephen - As I've said before, you must.

Great. I'm looking forward to the tour. I agree with what Beth has said below. Didn't I tell you before? I think you must consider it very seriously.

Magnificent drawing! Henry VIII was from this neck of the woods, right? Wish I was there on the tour.

Love it! Love the detail! You always have such an eye for detail; it's incredible.

You should seriously consider trying to get your pictures/tour published in print. I would love to buy a copy!
