Four Ghosts + One - Epilogue and Explanation

One of my daughters says that I have omitted two of our ghosts--an entity that used to breath heavily over the bed in the loft room that had previously been used to house farm workers, and a white floating figure, that she saw on the stairs one night, walking through the steps as if they had been facing the other way. I cannot vouch for these as I never encountered either, but I do know that the loft room is now my sanctuary and I've never felt a presence in there, and the only figure I ever saw coming downstairs the wrong way was my father one Christmas, but that's another story!

 

When we bought our house in 1971, it was empty, unloved and derelict in parts, so maybe that is why it was clinging on to its past and some of its previous residents. After many years of restoration and making it our own, it is now a warm and cosy home that is quite contented to leave us be.

 

As to ghost no1--our neighbours, in the other part of the farmhouse, have never developed their roof space but have sectioned off an area in one of their bedrooms with steps leading up to the attic. Picture this:- a teenage boy, a set of darts and a dart board fastened against the boxed off area, which now acts as an amplifier--yes, you've got it--'knock, knock, knock'!

There are ghosts within ourselves. We don't admit it but they are very much there, hidden between layers of untruths.

Gita -Teenage girls seem to attract them. The ghosts I mean, not the teenage boys! Mind you, they do their fair share of that as well.
