What can YOU say in six sentences?
I loved you while in the earth’s womb; before you had a chance to wrap your tentacles around my weary heart. I had only dreamed of a beauty like yours to share my lonely days, nights and ambitions. Yet there is a mystery that seeps through your raven eyes, I’m drawn to your porcelain skin and tranquil mind.
I had hoped to treasure you alone, but the world has witnessed your charm. They’re at the door searching for tenderness if only for a brief moment in time.
How may I convince them you’re only mine?

Comment by Bill Floyd on April 10, 2012 at 10:32am I like the yearning in this piece. Something odd and strange and fantastical about it, although the primary feel is one of melancholy.
Comment by Jeanette Cheezum on April 10, 2012 at 9:15am Adam, I can't tell you how much your comment means to me. After hitting the delete button by mistake I felt no one would look at this piece again. Cita's picture really moved me.
Comment by Adam Fine on April 10, 2012 at 12:51am And for me the title implies as much about growth, cultivation, and the closest, inner connection as it does its denotative meaning.
Comment by Adam Fine on April 10, 2012 at 12:43am I've not seen the previous comments, but I love the layers to this in your language. There seems so much love and desire expressed through images of ensnarement, collection and captivity. You have reference to the raven, a bird to be caged or to be set free, porcelain, like a fragile and immaculate doll both collected and kept, and the tentacles of the painted figure that have coiled around your [the speaker's] own heart.
And the selfless and selfish poles of protection give the piece a striking humanity. Incredible.
