It was a beautiful California morning and we were settling in for another cup of coffee and small conversation.  TV was silent, not yet time to turn it on.  The phone rang, it was my daughter calling from San Antonio, Texas, and she asked if I had the TV on; I said no - why?  She then began to tell me what she had seen and heard, and I ran over to the TV afraid to see what  had happened.  I was already sobbing and crying with such anguish that I could not control and could not believe the scenes that were showing on the screen.  You see, when you are a New Yorker you are forever a New Yorker, and you care about everything New York.  New York's history is part of my history, my birthplace, the neighborhoods we grew up in, the public schools, the subways, the theater district, and  where  my father was laid to rest, God bless America and God bless New York.

A sincere tribute, Irma, and it's nice to know that you are staying in contact with your New york neighbors.
