York's Bloody Past and the City's Many Ghosts - A Tour of Yorkshire Part 40

If you want a great bird's-eye view of York, take the climb up to Clifford's Tower, somewhere that is so steeped in history that six sentences could never do it justice. I'll leave you to discover more for yourself as I'm not sure that I am up for all those steps today.

York is certainly not short on history, and museums that chart that history through the ages.

York Castle Museum can be found just below Clifford's Tower, housed in what was once York Castle Prison.

Just around the corner from here, you can find the Yorvik Centre which encapsulates York's Viking past.

With such a bloody past, it is not surprising that York is reputed to be the most haunted city in England; as it's getting close to Halloween, perhaps we ought to finish this part of the tour with one of the many ghostly experiences on offer.

Jeanette and Ravi, thank you for your faith in my abilities as a tour guide. When, or if, I get busy with my pencils again, I may try to get something of the sort published. In the meantime, I am quite happy to take my friends on 6S for their own exclusive trip around my county.

Stephen, you are very welcome in Yorkshire at any time.

I'd never get to visit York and its beautiful monuments, but your sketches and descriptions tell me more than what I could discover even if I were there. Why don't you consider publishing  a book yourself? I wish I had a printing press.

Keep up the good work.

Regards.

The ghost centers are chilling. We spent a night in Berwick Castle outside Edinburgh and had a scary great time and of course, the Edinburgh Castle and the under ground. Also, Lakenheath, outside Cambridge we stayed a night at the local haunted hotel and had the wits scared out of us when we heard what sounded like a young boy chanting in the middle of the night, but the townsfolk forewarned us. Next stop, Yorkshire.

I have missed these tutorials/guardian of interesting facts. You really should have been a tour guide. Or at least start your own website with all of your work.
