He was a classic ghost wearing a plain white sheet, perfect circles cut into two eyes and a mouth, walking up the jack-o-lantern lined walkway that led to the Gasperelli house.

For the last few Halloweens this house had always scared him and he didn't know why, but he pushed on, braved the long walk, knocked on the door and waited.

More trick-or-treaters were coming up the path, a princess and a Jedi knight walking with their mom.

Mrs. Gasperelli immediately opened the door, remarked on how great the kids looked, and filled their bags with candy, the good stuff, the king sized.

The princess and the Jedi ran back down the walkway, laughing, happy to have more goodies, but he stood there patiently waiting for his candy while the mother talked with Mrs. Gasperelli who said, "I know, two years and still all they found was that bloody sheet."

I'll never let my children dress as a ghost again.  Never.
