Back to the Drawing Board for Steampunk Inventor?

“Bob, I don’t think the world really needs a plywood robot.”

“It’s not just a plywood robot, Jim.  Woody is one of a kind—totally unique— remote-controlled, steam-driven firefighter.”

“But wood is so passé, so 19th century, so, so---‘Jules Verne.’”

“A biodegradable, sustainable, natural fiber, ethically sourced, firefighting robot is EXACTLLY what the world needs, Jim---you’ll see.”

Determined to show Jim just how wrong he was about Woody, Bob struck a match, ignited the potbellied, wood-burning stove contained in the retro robot’s abdomen, and watched in dumfounded incredulity as Woody, instead of generating an animating head of steam, immediately caught fire and burnt to a charred ember on the fire station’s cool cement floor.

Well, yeah, Bob. That's kinda what wood does when fire is applied. This brought a nice grin, Brad. Thanks!
