On the other side of the wall in apartment 3 B, the nineteen fifties and sixties best collection rocked loud and clear.

Ms. Davis must have thought he was at work, because she was the perfect neighbor; never loud, begged, borrowed or stole from anyone.

As a matter-of-fact, Bill hadn’t seen her since the boyfriend moved in this past weekend.

After hearing the same song by Martha and the Vandellas three times he wondered…were his neighbors wasted or had they left with the music blaring?

That’s when he noticed water seeping through the connecting baseboard and his rug was soaked.

After moments of pounding on Ms. Davis’ door with no response; the landlord found her body in the tub.

I really really liked this til the last sentence. We knew what was coming, but it was a tad tidy. Still a great read and definitely a springboard for a full story.

Lovely Hitchockian flavour to this.

THis could be a fully fleshed out detective story. Run with it, Jeanette. Your sentences and prose are clear as crystal. Nicely done.

Gita, I wish I had saved all that vinyl.

Thanks, Michael. I'm never sure what these characters will do.

Louder music coming from the perfect neighbor's apartment after the new boyfriend should have prompted a friendly inquiry a little earlier. Bill might have caught that guy.

Will there be more to this? I'd be interested in seeing someone come to justice.

Good and fast.
