THE FINAL FINAL REMINDER: An Old-Fashioned Fiction Contest With Prizes

Ten days left until the contest closes. This really is the final final reminder.

You are invited to enter an old-fashioned fiction-writing contest with some valuable prizes.

Here's what to do.

Write a short-short story (maximum 1,200 words) with a relationship at the core of the story. Any genre is fine as long as the main idea/area of conflict involves a relationship of some kind.

Print your manuscript in 12-point type, double-spaced. It must have a cover page with the title, your name, mailing address and phone number and total word count.

Your name should not appear anywhere else on the rest of the manuscript so that the judges will read blind manuscripts with no identifiers on them. One story per person, please.

Mail your manuscript to: Fiction Contest c/0 Smith and Handley, 3395 Cloverdale Road, Montgomery, Alabama, 36106, USA.

Deadline for entries is October 1, 2012. A three-judge panel of readers will select the winners.

First Prize: Should you decide to attend the 2013 House of Writers (HoW) gathering, all your meals (at home or in restaurants) will be paid for.

Second Prize: A $40 gift certificate to Dean's Beans, the finest fair trade coffee website.

Third Prize: $15 gift certificate to Divine Chocolate, a fair trade gourmet chocolate website.

Impartial judges will read entries after Oct. 1 and the winning stories will be posted on the wonderful MuDJoB website no later than Nov.1

Good luck and good writing!

I am mailing mine this week.  Possibly even this morning.  No worries!  I wrote mine when I first saw the notice, but I have been EDITING, damnit!

I just don't have the time right now. I should dictate my life right now and send it in. I wish those that enter the best of luck. And Gita, this is so nice of you to do this.

i will do my best to get something sent to you!

Bolton and everyone -- please enter as so far only two have arrived in the mail and I need at least three to be able to award all the prizes!

May we enter more than once?

I was at 1400 words before I introduced the final character. Back to the drawing board.

Oh, Gita-lady.  My piece is already written and is in the polishing stages.  Don't think I'd let this one pass me by.  (Just wondering... if I win, will I get double goodies?  I don't eat THAT much... unlike Sandra, I am aiming for FIRST prize since I got my plane ticket almost covered.)

Considering the valuable prizes and the glory of having your story on MudJob (with facebook links to the page) and your name whispered in reverence if you win, it's worth finding a few hours of quiet between now and October 1 (five weeks away).

That goes double for Cita.
