An excerpt from "The evolution of my coffee sense"

One day, as my awareness of the external world grew over a certain point, I have noticed a peculiar thing: they called it “coffee”. Coffee was embodied in mini black holes of a specific smell that grown ups gravitated towards in their daily get-togethers. Upon a closer inspection I have noticed that coffee was a blackish liquid with brown foam on top. They used to drink it from small cups - that previously established source of the strong gravitational force. Grown ups; a mysterious drink; conversations that were either boring or non-understandable; the whole happening often enveloped in clouds of smoke… I was suspecting that all those coffee drinkers were actually members of a sect and therefore I decided to stay away from coffee.

Your deliciously written piece and the ensuing comments have made me run to the microwave and make a quick cup of instant (alas the only kind of coffee currently on hand), but I do have creamer to give it some body.
As to the piece you wrote, I felt sure you were going to let us know you'd been inducted before the end, but it seems that info must wait for the sequel. Only kidding because you already revealed your weakness in a comment. This is very flavorful writing (pun intended), but accomplished (serious compliment). Thanks for waking me up to several things.

Ahhh, you're speaking my language. Coffee - nectar of the gods.
I like the description of gravitational force. Very apt.

Thank you, Mark!

Oh, yes, the aroma... Feeling the smell of freshly baked coffee is one of those things that instantly make you happier, more inspired, energized and possibly even - taller (I felt that way several times, but it is not scientifically proven; not yet, anyway).

I am quite enjoying finding out what someone's favorite coffee form is. I had no idea how many interesting combos are out there. :)

For my wife and I the actual delight of coffee has always been in the aroma. Regardless of whether a good or bad start it always means "Good Morning". I have a naturally sweet tooth and while I should be embarrassed I drink my coffee with brown sugar and lots of flavored creamer. My favorite drink of all is a venti white chocolate mocha. Hardly any coffee at all, but I say it's coffee. The mystery still made this feel like "Good Morning". Enjoyed your piece!

Chicory... and someone free-willingly consuming it!? Well, chicory does taste better than caramel...

My brother and I hated milk when we were small, but it's good for you, so our mom added some caramelized sugar to make it taste better. It did not.

Her attempt #2 was adding some chicory and sugar, which was better than the caramel tasting milk, but not much better.

A spoon of cacao powder and some sugar were in the attempt #3... To cut the story about many unsuccessful attempts short - years later it turns out that my brother has lactose intolerance and I... well, I am fine; I was just supporting him.

OMG, Quin, that was you! The leading member!

"MUAHAHAHA (an evil laughter of an unknown coffee sect leader, laughing at me, since I became one of Them)"

Thank you. :) BTW, I became a real coffee worshiper with time...
