A Very Hard Worker
A man became accidentally trapped inside an industrial oven located at a Los Angeles-area company that makes canned fish—tuna and salmon. His body was baked overnight (apparently he worked the night shift.) When the morning shift arrived and found him, his body was so badly damaged that it was difficult to identify. Eventually, however he was identified.
“"He was a hard worker," his daughter Sara Melena told the Whittier Daily News. "A very hard worker."”

Gita, Yes I agree. I found the brevity of the news paper article, chilling. It seemed such a cold and ironic summation of a man's life. I suppose that is do partly to the nature of the medium, and it may in fact reflect some language limitations of the speak--I don't know if he daughter is a native English speaker--the article doesn't say, of course. But the brevity of the piece, and the daughters statement reflects how quickly we (news subjects) can become reduced to a "soundbite" This is pretty disquieting.

I read the full news story. Melena's daughter was in earnest but there's something of a deadpan irony in the remark that really chills. Jeez.
