A Flight of Fancy (Welcome back to my Virtual Tour of Yorkshire - part 31)

Sewerby Hall is situated 2 miles north of the seaside resort of Bridlington, on the East Yorkshire coast.
This grade 1 listed country house was built between 1714 and 1720 by John Greame with additions of bow wings and a portico being added from 1808 to 1811.

On the first floor is a room given over to local heroine, Amy Johnson, the collection being a gift from her father in October 1958 with further material received from various sources. The hall also houses a local history museum, but if you prefer to explore outside, there is a woodland walk, children’s zoo, putting green and adventure playground.

If you wander into the formal garden, you cannot miss the great monkey-puzzle trees that are thought to be some of the oldest in England. A walk along the cliff tops takes us to Dane’s Dyke where I shall leave you for a while before taking you on to the next destination.

(I can't believe that it was April 2011 when I left you all at Burton Agnes Hall. Any new passengers are welcome to join us here, or begin at the beginning)

You've out done yourself. If we ever get a chance to go back to England you must be our guide.

Nice of you to drop in, Beth. Your mom is welcome to visit Yorkshire at any time. Tell her to drop in for a traditional English afternoon tea when she does.

Good to hear from you  as well, Ravi.
