How could I have forgotten the shadow, I'm sure that Amos wouldn't have done so!

After I had demolished the wall, a window, which had been in the hallway, now overlooked the garden from the living-room.Amos was the dog we had at that time back in the 1970s and he did not like The Shadow, as it became known, one iota. A usually quiet animal, a cross between a working Border Collie and an English Setter, he would go berserk from time to time; sometimes we did see a shadow passing the window, at other times we didn't but knew it was there by the dog's reaction; if anyone was to walk by the window, he wouldn't turn a hair. We have been told that one of the previous occupants had dropped dead in the yard although we have no concrete evidence of this.

Before our next dog arrived on the scene in the 80s, we had replaced the window with a door and porch, and The Shadow was forgotten until now.

Jamie - We haven't had a dog for about five years now, and I do so miss having one around the place. We look after one from time to time. She's lovely, but there isn't that same 'knowing' as we had with our own.

Dogs are so awesome. G stole my thought, so I'll just repeat it - "you are observant for knowing they know."

Teresa - He was a lovely dog, but we had to find him another home when he was only four because of our elder daughter's worsening asthma. We didn't get another dog until she left home.

Amos went to a beautiful home with teenage boys to take him for long walks. We visited him and he made such a fuss of us. His new owners kept in touch and let us know when he finally passed away. I was heartbroken, but knew that he had a great life.

What a sweet face.  I don't doubt they see/hear all we humans can't.

Excellent. Dogs know, and you are observant for knowing they know.
