Twelve of us were seated at a table in a small cafe with deep red walls. Our food had arrived, exquisitely arranged and sauced For a single moment, all conversation stopped as forks lifted to mouths. Then came a sound in unison: something between a moan and a sigh. To laugh would have been irreverant.

Only art can silence a table of writers.

Well I certainly read this ... can only think I drifted off one one to such an extent that I forgot to post any sort of comment ... but of course it was while we were still in New Orleans and I didn't always have the opportunity to comment. You too have remembered that moment of food-rapt silence ...

I love that quiet moment when food arrives. You just know everyone is drowning in their silent food desire!

Loved this Gita. Mike you are too funny with that comment. And they make a spice rub by that name too. Slap Ya Mama comes in a few varieties :) Glad your palates were pleased along with everything else!

Don't forget the cornbread, the last pieces of which I dipped in the confit. That was one exquisite meal. And the company made it more so.
