What can YOU say in six sentences?

My guitar teacher once told me this.
It's not the notes but the gaps between them.
It's the same for words.
What a writer leaves unsaid is the true art.
The gaps provide a gift for the reader's imagination.
Enough said?

The Tube netwrk is a lot deeper than most people realise.

They're always advising us to 'Mind the gap'.

Let the train take the strain!

I like this - clever. And an astute observation.

Yes the focus on the gaps, gives rise to the possibility of even more imagination , as we consider the unsaid word , or the chance that you want more ....enjoyed it too....

Yes, the biggest gap is the sense and need for a sequel ...

NOT NEARLY enough, but that was the point, wasn't it?

Yes, the negative space between each word and line is equally important. It's where the music and muses pause for breath. Great observation, Tom. Enjoyed this.

Tom..... 'nuf said! I think it was Miles Davis who said that there is no such thing as a a wrong note. It's the following note that makes or breaks the "Wrong" one....... as to the gaps.. the unsaid, the negative space created by each new element in a painting, the fermata in written music are all indeed a gift to the receiver's imagination, allowing unlimited time for contemplation, and best of all, anticipation. If you haven't already, check out, "Zen Guitar" by Philip Toshio Sudo. ISBN 0-684-83877-X....Arthur
