this is music

For me personally Music has sound tracked my life, It can remind me of a place, person, Good times & Bad times.  It’s something I believe in and at its best it has creativity, integrity and spirit despite the corporate greed and egos it has created over the years, before downloads, My Space, Social networking and shows like the X factor tossed music aside like a used condom.

The first music I remember? It would have been the mid to late seventies; between the ages of 6 -10 years…

Outside IV

The children’s behaviour now ranged from listless and difficult to aggressive which at least broke up the seemingly endless daytime by adding some extra stress to the boredom. At the end of the day it was the same routine before we tried to sleep; checking the boarding on the windows, front and back doors, that the curtains were still pulled tightly across as they had been for weeks now .

The night was still by far the worse…

Highpoint (HMP)

The first thing I was taught on that first terrifying night was how to make a homemade shank by melting a razor blade onto the end of a toothbrush all I ended up cutting was myself as I forgot to cover the blade when I concealed it in my uniform. Luckily I never had the need for it as I was in with the right crowd which was even more valuable in here than in the outside world, I also learnt that Cigarettes really were used as currency and desperate People will pay pound ten pounds for a can…

Leftovers

“Do you love her”? Leah asked.

I got out of the bed and walked across to the bathroom “who”?

“Kara”, Leah Replied “she is your girlfriend isn’t she? Proping herself up with a pillow against the headboard.

“Don’t bother to reply I already have your answer”.

I carried on washing my face as though Leah had not spoken. I hated these moments, earlier it didn’t seem to be a problem.

“when you said,”who?” she persisted.

Behind the shop ads

Browsing the ads in the shop window, amongst the usual rooms to rent and handy men available he found what he was looking for “Jane personal massage petit blonde 21 yrs of age close to the station, call anytime” he dialled the number into his phone and pressed call.

“Hello” a woman’s voice answered

“Hi is that Jane?” he replied

“Yes it is honey do I know you”? She sounded a lot older than twenty one,

“No, but I could see you I am only ten minutes from the…

The Seeker II

I sent the dogs in first as it was no time for sentiment they were just trained animals to me and not pets as some of my colleagues treated them. They both flew of the leash in frenzy straight into the door well opposite and disappeared from view I heard a brief screech which cut to silence almost instantly this did not bode well for the poor canines. I moved closer to the entrance of the building keeping the barrel of the assault rifle trained ahead of me with my free hand unhooking a tear…

Zombie Falls

Sam filled the back of the car with as much he could carry, assault rifles, handguns and enough ammunition to start a small scale war. Already thinking of driving downtown on this sunny afternoon to try out his newly acquired arsenal he knew the perfect spot where he had been chased by a large gathering earlier that week. At the main intersection of the old shopping district he had clear views on all sides of the street so nothing could sneak up him; he also left the engine running just in…

Outside III

I walked along the raised pathway above the estuary’s edge the high sea wall to my right keeping me well hidden and out of view, it was beautiful summer’s day and the air smelt clean and smoke free for first time in an age. I passed the bodies of a an old couple that lay on the shore, they looked like they was on holiday arm in arm looking out at the calm water, they hadn’t yet began to decompose so maybe when their time came it was also in the bright sunshine. I didn’t ponder on how they…

The beat up star

From where I lay the reservoir glistened in the sunlight it could have been the edge of an ocean from this awkward angle. I tried to lift my head thinking maybe I should get up but I was still dazed and not entirely sure how I had ended up in this beautiful place surrounded by all this white stone and water. I was wet and thought I was lying too close to the waters edge so maybe I really should try and get up otherwise I might drown, but the water felt warm and I started to drift in and out…

1875 - II

The Zephyr journey from Manchester central to Kings cross was pleasant enough the mild weather insuring very little turbulence and he passed the time outrageously flirting with several female passengers. As soon as they landed Santinni needed to get out of the main city district as his face was too familiar to the authorities, he hailed the first cab that came into…

The Seeker

You know you have made it when your signature is on the side of a building he thought as he looked up to the sparkling glass tower that now stood in the middle of what was once the desert. On the surface yet another luxury hotel and resort to cater for the endless hedonistic junkies the flocked to this part of the world all possible willing or unwilling disciples. Off course he saw it differently to him it was a church, a house for the carnal minded and purveyors of the dark arts based in…

Oh the guilt

The first time I saw David in action I knew I was witnessing something special; it wasn’t long after that he won his first professional tournament. In the Early days we travelled and roomed together as his star began to rise mine never really got off the ground but I more than shared in his new found fame and wealth. As…

2010

Such highs and lows more than ever this year, worldwide we are still at war with whom and why seems unclear so I don’t read the news so much now.

Births, marriages, deaths, job losses, infidelity, financial collapse and that was just in my own street so no need to travel far to hear life’s up and downs!

There is nothing like a quiet weekend in Vegas and that was nothing like a quiet weekend in Vegas!

My dad is actually looking like an old man now as well as acting like…

Demon Seed

The ads were so sinister, awash with images followed by one crazy video as the master of ceremonies then descended onto the stage to begin this mass ritual.

It was hard to watch....I strangely felt sorry for the people around me. It was like they had no idea what they were involved in....or maybe they did???? Its dark…

Lines #11 Sambuca Evil

Another round of shots which I was now struggling to hold down I could also feel myself slurring my words, sambuca evil. The More I drank the more a feeling of an almost invincibility flowed through me. I had spent the evening easily moving between the various groups flirting, kissing arse where appropriate, before moving onto my prey it would be the perfect crime as I had ignored her for most of the evening.…

So when did we or have we actually crossed the line?

Was it when we first spoke and started flirting? Or as the conversation became more personnel, hopes, dreams and disappointments over the years?…

1875 somewhere underground

Several hours passed as the three of them continued along the track, Johnson took the lead as he had both the only remaining gas light and one of the two shotguns, finally they came out of the tunnel into old Station named Green Park.

This section of the underground was pre…

The Lonely Hero Type Thing

The trail of blood had seeped into the old wooden floor boards and at this hour of the night no longer looked the familiar red but almost black. I could make out some remains in the middle of the room it was human but not enough left to be able to identify whether it was male or female it was best not to linger at the awful stench or what may or may not have happened here earlier. You knew what they…

The Partners

Big guy #1 continued slashing with the blade commenting on what a game boy I was and it would need a surgeon with a sewing machine to stitch me back together, but I no longer cared. You see after a while the body and mind shuts down to physical pain, the cuts to my face had no effect it just felt numb, the left eye had now completely closed the right was just a blur, not sure how many teeth were gone…
