Tornado/Volcano--Romance Challenge

He was all heat and building pressure and disruption.

She altered the landscape wherever she briefly touched down.

Her corkscrew gales couldn't cool him and his molten nimbus couldn't seal her in place.

His convulsions threw earth and fire and ash, but eventually he cooled and slumbered for dormant centuries.

Her dance was a rarer thing, flinging kindling and keepsakes across entire states before she retreated back into…

The Permian Extinction

The scientists disagree on the exact cause: an extraterrestrial impact event; increased volcanic activity, super-heating the planet and poisoning the atmosphere; a shift in the chemical make-up of the air and sea; some combination thereof.  The scientists do agree on what to call it: The Great Dying.  Approximately 251.4 million years ago, Earth lost 96% of its marine species and 70% of its terrestrial vertebrates--not even the insects were spared.  Pangaea coalesced from out of the seas, as…

Lab Rat Thunderclaws

I've got an experiment for them, alright.  The whitecoats didn't realize just how powerful those nanogenetics were when they injected my great-grandmother, when they drove her insane with the nascent awareness of the genocide being perpetrated against our kind.

The smug, murmuring whitecoats--so easily pleased with themselves or so childishly frustrated when they cut us open to check the results of their work--they don't realize we've developed a communications…
