Winter Ice

Sparkling glassy ice entice the skaters to venture out on glinting sunlit blades as they ease themselves around the intent ice fiishermen peering into augered holes of hope.

Grandpa races to the end of his limited sight as grandma swirls her dyed blonde hair in a freedom long lost.

Laughing voices of sibling grandchildren race recklessly to the far end of the lake while soft words sing a loving caution into their ears, knowing safety and unity is only a few steps… Continue

A Superior Being

I am proud to be part of the male species that has led us on an unending journey of accomplishments.

Just look at what we males have done for humanity; literature, inventions and leaders as heads of states throughout the eons.

It is the male intellect that has brought us to this juncture!

And for you naysayers out there, male intellect is not an oxymoron.

It is very gratifying to us males because we and we alone have a direct line of communication to… Continue

Unending Pain

His head fell heavily into his hands and he could feel the distraught rhythm of his heart beat wildly as if it would burst.

His contorted sweating body fell like a limp rag into the folds of a waiting couch.

Angry fingers pulled through his unkept hair, yanking maniacally at his taut scalp as if the self inflicted pain would give him absolution.

He wanted to die to hide the shame and hurt he had decieved his wife with as he begged her forgivness through bleeding… Continue

Never Look Back.....(Someone might be gaining on you.)

Come on Sarge, you're not gonna send me there cause I didn't sign up for this, I was conscripted, you know, a fancy word for being drafted.

I honestly thought that N.S.A. stood for Not Socially Adapted, gimme a break will you, I know I can improve my college grades next year.

The only thing that got me into this mess was the friggin 'F' in my Sensitivity class because that damn Puerto Rican broad, who is married to a raghead, told me… Continue

A Higher Authority

The journey through Islam, Christianity and Universal Zen was then.

Mystic drugs were fun, while stupidly blinkin' at the sun but it only turned into an Alka Seltzer moment.

A search through Kamric ditches and subsequent glitches gave rise to the oppression of regression.

Warm bodies weren't the answer to the ultimate question and the conversation died faster than the feeling.

The PHD's could only spout their banality and It was a long road from an… Continue

Morning coffee doesn't help.

Are hangovers corporal punishment, physical abuse or self flagellaltion?

Last night was a party to remember but I'm having difficulties with the details.

Oh yes, now remember; I was the guy on the bandstand trying to dance and sing those old Motown songs and shouting during the break, "Garcon, drinks for all my friends, old and new"; and he shouted back; "it ain't happenin' Bud, your Amex card is overlimit."

And just before that, distinctly remember someone… Continue

Reflections on a Winters Day

Silly ducks and geese have lost their nature and feed on refuse as a a darkened sky looms with forbidding messages.

Sparrows don't care and Ravens knowingly follow the eighteen wheelers because they know that the only thing they brake for is the 'two fer' five oclock specials and the ensuing road kill is simply a warm dinner.

Watching little brown squirrels scamper feveriously through the snow for some forgotten memory of sustenance reminds me of my own buried past that my… Continue

A Snow Day

A bright sunlight sparkled off the new fallen snow like diamond eyes as I shoved heavily against the snow laden door, fighting valliantly for the morning paper that screamed nine inches of snow and more in areas I've never heard of.

The morning routine was not interrupted with fresh coffee beans and a flop on the bed next to a sleeping face that a coughing voice could only gurrgle, "hey Nanc, hey hey Nanc, we're getting 9 inches and maybe more" but the vexing face next to me could… Continue
