Noisy Neighbours

It seems quite a nice planet, sitting there in the warm zone of a comfortable, stable, if not particularly exciting star. Bang.

I think I want to be a Large Hadron Collider. Because I want to see it. For that brief tiny fraction of a second, a time so short that by comparison the blink of an eye is an eternity, I want to see it. I want to see the beginning. I want to see that bright light. I want to see it all start up.

Old Cliché

It is not the world I know, but some other far stranger place. A vast plain stretches away in every direction and since there is no curve to this landscape, the horizon seems to dither with infinity. There are hills that could be a thousand miles away, or only ten. The sky is a deep cobalt blue, the ground as black as the devil's heart, but there is a glimmer of warm red in those distant hills.
