Oak Tree Year Two

(to put this in context, you might want to look at last years post here:

to see how this little tree is doing).

Despite the worst winter I've seen since I've been down in this part of the country, followed by the…

Clocking In

When you enter a strange bar for the first time, you should perform a ‘scan and assess’, I’ve learned this from years of worldwide travel.

So.…

Shell Game (True Story)

Now I don’t want you to think that when I was at sea, and had a run ashore, that I would normally have visited a zoo, well at least, not an animal zoo (although come to think of it, some of the bars I was in had a lot of animals ….. errr … sorry, I digress).

Mountains

Well the weather forecast is good, and there's still a few days of the half term left, so I'm heading 300 miles north overnight to get to the Welsh Mountains. I have it in mind to walk the Nantle Ridge to the great crag on Cwm Silyn (you have to hand it to the welsh, they know how to give a hill a name). I climbed that crag 35 years ago with my old man, but I'm a bit long in the tooth for that shit now, I'll be sticking to the path.

Driving overnight is nice at this time of…

Life Giver

Eve had died sometime early in the flight. It’s an eight year run from the central systems to the Rim, eight years in a sleeper, but I estimated she’d been dead for seven years at least, perfectly preserved, but still dead, some kind of hibernation malfunction.…
