The Revisitation

Tread as softly as a rainbow

in a fish's eye

don't wrinkle the moon's reflection

with your footprints,

Carry nothing in your…

Slow Rain

A slow rain seeps into gutters.

Parrots screech in the dusky scrub.

Wrens feed at the crumbling edge

of the path up the mountain.

Sunlight never reaches the corners

of this winter park . As letters are…

Repented Leisure.

I had known Jack most of my life, sharing my time with him in Primary school, High school and later at college. He was a very confident boy whose ability was well recignized both academically as much as on the sporting field. His family were successful farmers who had invested well, and as a consequence he had become accustomed to enjoying the good life to the point that he had become self centered and self indulgent as well. His care free attitude was reflected in the…

Chicken Laughter.

My lawyer friend from the city decided that he was tired of the rat race and wanted to move to the country. His dream was to become a chicken farmer ? So he bought a nice farm in his favourite part of the country , moved in and started to plan his chicken business. As it turns out , his next door neighbour is also a chicken farmer. The neighbour visits him one particular day and says , "chicken farming isn"t easy , but I am so glad to have you in the area , so to…

You"re Choice ?

What happens to the tinned soup in your cupboard when the cupboard door is closed?

Is it still there, on the other side of the door, waiting until you open it ?

Or does it vanish into thin air ?

Materialising just nanoseconds before you open the door ?

If you keep closing and opening the door, suddenly and randomly ,

will you catch it out ?

Or will you just wear out the hinges ?

Perhaps the soup is there all the time… Continue

Sentimental landscape.

As I drove up the hill to the old homestead memories of my early childhood came flooding back, and as I alighted from the car I could smell the freshness of the sea air penetrating my nostrills, as it did all those years ago. As I knocked on the front door , I could see the thin image of a woman reflected through the glass panel. She opened the door and invited me inside , and almost at once she realized that I was her favourite grandson. After several… Continue

The Dawning Light.

As the dawning light dazzels, and

awakens the eye to dreaming eye,

with a kookaburra on high

while the sun rises over the river -

A small girls silvery shadow

swims away from my ankles,

and as the heat…

The Last Straw.

We finally broke up last Thursday , a cold and wet day , until my heart crashed six stories and landed by your feet , only to be trampled on and kicked into the gutter.Upon reflection , Friday is a much better day to have ended it , as you have the whole weekend to regain some composure , some self respect and to re-emerge as just another well identified loser in the relationship stakes. On Thursday my face was so swollen from crying , as I had to decide if a broken heart is a good enough… Continue

The Corroded hook.

As the corroded hook sat

peacefully in dads tackle box,

the spring tide suggests that

the snapper are on the run -

The Winter Winds

As the winter winds blow,

signs of a empty spiders web

are methodically moored to the window.

While the wool bale skeins

and the shades of winters past

are systematically sorted…

The Winters Dry

As the dryness of a cold winter arrives

a geranium wilts in the Pub window,

Through the silky skylight, a Possum"s

paw print impacts on the moon.

While the dampness of the night imitates…

The transparent Lamp.

The transparent lamp

with its red tangled tassels,

as I dab my upper lip...

While the tour group pose

strategically silenced by,

the photographed cascade-

Al,...souvenirs ,

shopping- for three years now

at the same closing down sale,...

Its late afternoon -

as the aunties jive

with their slim shadows,....

Empty Pockets.

I am out of money,

as we enter into

But, as bald

slys the fishmonger -

While spaghetti straps

seduce the senses in chinatown,

which resonates our festive icy lychees...

Losted .

I am lost again , as the

dandelion seed - heads

shine ... behind me too.

While the rain lifts the peaks

off, some office towers ,

but,...still partly obscurred ?

Translation studies -

Disseminating drifting clouds

behind a fly wire screen.

However, there"s no way through

Brendan"s Thirst.

As an athlete Brendan"s fitness and endurance were quite exceptional, but it was his ability on the football field which set him apart from all the other athlete"s .His leg speed was amazing as was his stamina, but ultimately it was his ability to kick goals that brought him great fame and fortune .At almost any position within the goal kicking area, and at any angle would result in a goal, thus was the level of his accuracy ,with many club wins being attributed to his individual… Continue

The Mosquito"s Song.

The Mosquito"s song, fills the
room with clapping hands,

but,...still drinking , after
the glass is drained -

The glass half full or
the glass half empty ?

While just you and me

Painted Toe Nails.

Blue painted toe nails illuminate her feet -

But, still small enough,... to lie

straight out in the bath,

As the rising mist crystallises the stillness.

While a cow wanders through a cob web -

and a Ghostly gum is magnified

by the haze of the late afternoon sun,....

Spring Time Showers.

While the sun breaks through
between the intermittent showers,
rains mirror illuminates the roof.

As thunder echoes the approching storm,
lambs press against their mothers bellies.

A spring moon manifests crystal coolness,
while on double pay the barmaid glistens.

Nestlings gather under the eaves, and resonate
the light condensation on a can of beer,....
