"I can see the colors, clear as clear, and the offering made to the raptors by the yellow machine and the one who mows. Love these word pictures, the repetition and the lazy feel of the work. Working can be restful, as this work is to this character."

A Day of Work On A Day Of Rest

A hayfield was ready to cut so I jumped in my bright yellow Caterpillar cutter with its air-ride seat and began to mow over the beautiful Windsor green canopy of alfalfa that grows so thick the ground is no longer visible. The red-tail hawks soon joined me, along with the bald buzzards and large crows that followed my machine like seagulls following a a chartered fishing boat. It's Sunday, and it won't be a day of rest for me or traditional church, but I enjoy the blue sky as my painted Sistine…See More

The Gracious Host

He climbed on to her back and took a firm hold.

She hardly knew when he began sucking the life blood from her as he was adept in this symbiotic relationship and could make his small incision as precisely as a skilled surgeon. She would find him now and then, and in her searching, run her tongue over the smooth contours of his body, and she liked that better than she hated the wound.

When her mother called she would ask about her parasite and the girl would always say that… Continue

A Story About Being Sheltered

Posted on February 11, 2009 at 6:00pm 8 Comments

I got a brazillian wax.

As she ripped the sticky tape off, I said, "What the f*@%, holy s@#%, ^#$@!! (Those are not cuss words. They were the unintelligible verbage that came sprewing out of my mouth along with some spastic sign language I was making with my hands and feet in the air)

I don't know why I did it. I guess I felt pressure from some woman's magazine. Like I'm the last woman left who hasn't done it or something. Or maybe it was the porn I happened upon one day,… Continue

If I Were A Painter

Posted on February 9, 2009 at 6:26pm 8 Comments

If I were a painter I would paint the truth.

It is so much more colorful than the bland, washed-out world of unreality.

It is so much more abstract and sensual.

It is so much more powerful and acidic and explosive.

And everyone would linger there in front of my painting, just trying to wrap the art around them, not wanting to leave it behind, yet its price tag frightens them away.

But not everyone would recognize it as fine art.

"Jarring" is a good word. If I were just writing non-fiction, my writing would be boring... all love, love, love, infatuation, wink, wink, love, love. But the jarring note comes from all of the fiction I am writing, mainly from the old man talking in my ear. (And the world won't hold its breath because writing is one thing... getting published is quite another.) Thanks for reading, cuz. (Someone very special to me wants to meet you.... he says a wise man looks at a woman's female relatives to see what he is getting into in the long term and he thinks you are HOT! Well, we are related by blood!)

When I'm being creative like in art - I can't write either. I draw pencils, pastels, etc...that may be why I love your pictures. I would frame them and hang them on a wall.

There was a while when seeing you made me laugh about hair removal but tonight reading your latest snapped me out of it. Brililiant.
Am writing because I really like your picture and wonder if you are the artist. It's is great!

I know you must have done the wax thing... there was a golden thread of truth running right through it! My tummy muscles hurt.

If you have time, look up Jake Peppiatt and Anthony... I think you'll like their stuff.

Just remember when you read that I am trying my hand at some fiction. In order to write good fiction, one must develop empathy. And to develop empathy, one must look at the world through new lenses. This is a good way and place to do that. Bravo on the wonderful feedback that odd chick is getting!
