By the end of the first line, I found myself being carried along by the smooth flow of your voice, the ease and clarity of your description. Very well done.

I like your voice in this, Michael. Real and conversational. It's easy to imagine as a monologue (I had an entire scene pop into my head as I neared the ending).

You have a great ear, Hallie. Poetic and musical (in style as well as subject). A joy to read. Walter

Great 6s. Last line laden. A book in itself.

WOW. I have to agree with everyone, this piece is amazing.

It goes without saying that this is perfection, but I'll say it anyway. This is perfection: in economy of words, in full development, in descriptive work, in pacing--all round. Congratulations on producing a truly fine piece of work.

Very few publications (I wish it was printed so I could hold it!) are actually inspirational, Walter. Yours is.

Walter and Paul and Pamila ... damn lovely stylish presentation of authors in aesthetics. The on'stage photo montage all the way to "ENCORE" stated open-mike, what wordsmithing brings to the stage very well, in many cases, quite poetically. Allie ...

The Woodpile

Both of us, at exactly the same moment, noticed the hand in the woodpile. It was somewhere near the bottom, split fingers curved into the log beneath. He paused a step before me and another to the left and didn’t say anything at all. My eyes lost focus; in the seconds that passed, while they tightened again, the cracked shingles of the house seemed to fill my view. Then I watched him sag into himself, waiting for what would come. ROADIES

IT IS THE LAW: As the Sporter of How Many Stitches is driving, he controls the stereo. He’s been looping one song—“Kicked in the Taco,” by Frank Black—since we left Petersburg, two-and-a-half hours ago. The Sporter is a mess; I know better than to ask why. There is so much blood coming through his shirt I can hear it move when he sings. He lights a cigarette, without offering me one, squinting through the smoke, the smoke-coated windshield. And when I sock him, it’s not because of the tune itsel… Continue

Thanks so much for your comments on O Canada. You made my day! I am going to go out to the library and get The Dean's December, one of Bellow's books I have not read. This is the first time I've posted a dream...new territory for me. I often have dreams that while they are happening don't seem funny at all, but upon waking seem hysterical. Maybe all of life is like that, too.

Sorry for the one-mess-fits-all, but I got blisters on my fingers tryin' to get the latest word out to y'all so you can help me live in a manner to which I'd like to become accustomed.

Hot off the cyber press, 20 years in the making (gawd, I'm not a very prolific writer, am I?) I finally got it done.

Walter, disenthralled leaves me completely opposite to that adjective. You and the participants have done a great job, and it's a memorable first issue. You're already on my blog roll.
