Today being a day for lovers, I thought about our first lingering kiss, how sweet, tender and innocent it was. I liked it so much I asked for another. He was more than happy to oblige.
Fast forward years later, they have become just simple pecks on the lips, as common as saying good morning or hello -- not as sweet. I think I might surprise him before he leaves for work today and just plant one on him, that should liven things up. Happy Valentines Day!

Helpless, that's how I feel.
Watching her little chest rise and fall in a restless sleep.
Heart rapidly beating, racing toward who knows what.
Breathing tortured, raspy, wheezing -- a horrid cough throughout.
Her color faded, lips dark, eyes peaked as she briefly looks at me, no beaming smiling face.
I hate it when she gets sick, no meds can work fast enough to ease the illness -- please Lord take it away.
