Sister Two Moons commented on Sister Two Moons's blog post The Frailty of Words or The Unholy Trinity
"Good to see all of you! Daniel, you are most probably correct, but I have been recently in a world where words have been mushed and manhandled, and have found that even the best vocabularists ? are found wanting in the balance. But, I do like being…"

"STM, long time no see. While I like your writing and question, I wonder if this trinity is indeed "unholy". Isn't imagination, memory, and emotion the reason we humans are currently top dog? But back to the writing, excellent!"

Introduction

There once was a woman who dwelt on the banks of a snaky, winding river named Clinch.

That river soothed her, called her, embraced her, and whispered secrets in her ear.

During odd and intermittant seasons of Darkness, the woman was able to watch wide-eyed as the moon "mirrored" itself in the undulating water.

As above.....so below.

As above.....so below.

And so, the woman decided that reflection was good, both inner and outer, and she would mimic the moon orb and become the same within and without, as above.....so below.

Therefore,

The Frailty of Words or The Unholy Trinity

If I say "apple" what picture is conjured as this word travels from these lips of mine to your cerebral netherland ?

Do you imagine a Red Delicious with crunch, firmness and juice enough to drip as you chew?

Or, do you visualize a green, Granny Smith with a tartness that brings instant salivation and makes you shudder with satisfaction ?

Perhaps, you smell apple butter, simmering in a copper kettle beneath the autumnal sun while juices are being coaxed from the… Continue

The "You" And The "I" Of It All

Posted on January 31, 2009 at 7:25am 4 Comments

We got married on Valentine's Day, so you could "remember our anniversary".

You used to drive me crazy, now you just make me that way.

I used to see pulsing, swirling shades of lavendar and periwinkle when we kissed; no color comes to grace my third eye now.

You used to pull me across the sheets and render me helpless in your embrace, now you only pull the sheet.

I used to have a dream, 'tis now a mere… Continue

*Kate's* Wings

Posted on January 31, 2009 at 6:58am 8 Comments

I tried to sneak up on *Kate*.

Actually, I was looking for the sockets in her back that hold *her* wings in position, since I am confident that *she* is, at least, part *angel* ( that is why all these *stars" hang around *her*).

In my mind. I see *her* reading, pondering, rolling our words around on her tongue, digesting what is good, and discretely spitting out in her napkin the words that aren't so tasty.

*Kate*, akin to the guardian angel we are all promised… Continue

Literalism in the Buckle of the Bible Belt

Posted on January 29, 2009 at 6:38pm 3 Comments

As I drove home from the university, snaking my way down Coeburn mountain, I saw her.

She was walking around the track, hair to her waist, wearing a skirt, tennis shoes, and a jacket.

The temperature outside was 29 degrees and falling, or so said my intelligent car.

I am puzzled by your devotion to literalism and to the preacher man who tells you what to do and how to do it; the way you think your long hair is a glory unto you, the way you wear what the preacher… Continue

Original Design and the Pesky Masons

Posted on January 29, 2009 at 9:35am 3 Comments

She had dug deep, anchored what was to come, intended to add the "Holy Trinity" of dimension, breadth, and depth to her life construction.... here a stone, then another.

This night, however, it occurred to her that she had been assisted by other masons.

Often, they had reviewed her work and deemed it fine, "Let 'er stand!"

But in other, more disassembling, moments they had rearranged, and even removed, her handiwork before the mortar "set".

She had… Continue

STM, sister of my heart, I miss you. Just wanted you to know that. Things are so uncomfortable for me in some places, so comfortable for me in others. But that's always the way things are, huh?

Happy New Year, Sister! The pictured furry"favorite thing" is Max. He is quite a character and has loved batting ornaments around the house,

Sing on! The Sound of Music has always been a "favorite thing."
