About Me:
I write dark fiction fueled by personal details and distorted through the lens of an imperfect memory. I write horror, some of it real and recorded fact by fact. My first novel, The Bella Vista Motel, is a story about a young, ambitious, New York hit man, sent out west to watch over his Mafia Boss's pet project – a motel just outside of Ozona, Texas. He learns how to manage the elements of a different sort of underworld as the motel's dark purpose is revealed. My novel has way more than six sentences in it.

The Guest Book - 11

Clark Mannish was pacing around in the lobby bellowing, "Hello? Anybody here?" when Romeo stepped out of the hallway to greet him, mere moments after he had banged on the desk bell. The guy was a mess, as guys always are after untold days on the road in varying states of shamed anxiety, or angry resentment, or depressed resolve, or some combination of all that and more for having been exiled from New York City. Romeo wasn't yet privy to what Mannish had done to earn himself a stint at the Bella… Continue

The Guest Book - 10

Madge lay in Romeo's arms, sleeping in her soft way, as light as a doll against his chest. He felt his body begin to settle against the mattress, the tension of the day loosening its grip on his muscles, his jaw unclenching, his mind giving way to allowing the sounds of crickets, night birds, the soft click and whir of the oscillating fan, and his own steady heartbeat to blend together and fade out into beautiful, blank sleep. The jolt that went through his head when the front desk bell rang––un… Continue

Animal Messengers

Frank's wife never told him she wanted a divorce, she just went out and got a dog. He came home from work one day, stuck his key in the lock and was puzzled to hear barking on the other side of his front door. He was confronted in his own foyer by a snarling new adversary––some sort of Chihuahua, Terrier mix––that had all the charm of a foot-tall gargoyle. He stood there, briefcase in hand, ready to shield himself should the thing decide to launch an attack, when he heard Charlene call out from… Continue

She Will Lose Her Job

She couldn't get her eyeliner to go on straight. Her eyes kept tearing up and twitching under the sharp edge of the pencil. She rubbed at the lines with her finger, but that smeary, smoky look didn't work on her, her eyes were too intense already. She laid the pencil down beside the sink, grabbed a cigarette out of her pack, lit it, and sat down on the toilet to smoke. She looked into the half open eyes of the corpse, haphazardly submerged in bloody bath water and whispered, "God damn you, David… Continue

The Guest Book - 9

Romeo had to laugh at the sight of Joe, the man's big, simple face smiling beneath his undersized Yankees ball cap had always reminded him of the apes back in the Bronx zoo, but also because now he knew what was going on; he'd just dozed off somewhere, that was all. He looked around for his friend in gray — surely agent Ramiel would come along any minute, to harangue him about all the harm he'd done to his immortal soul — but he saw no sign of him, just big Joe, doing up his fly and shaking his… Continue

Hey Pamila - *Thanks* ... I keep going with all being right with the world, and I'm waiting on all to be right with ning to give back the complete history of works and connectivity that the "virus" Rob said swiped away, like a bad thief who went on the lam at the Bella Vista Motel on the night of a maelstrom. Amazing where a humble promoter of publishing can work in a worthy'writer a good plug, huh? Guess it harbingers well. Et tu? Publisher lookin' at you for the BigScreen yet?

Hi Pamila,
So great to hear from you! Sounds like your keeping happy and writing still too I hope. The 6s site has been pretty slow. Maybe it's the time of year? Don't know. I've been super busy. Writing bug. You know how it is. Submitting all over the place. Getting little acceptances here and there.

I had alot of fun collaborating with the carnival too. You and I def have to hook up again someday.

H*33. Crazy stuff, crazy crew. You have something in the works? I've written a first draft. Needs drastic word count cutting though. I don't know. It's one of those stories I really and truly need a couple months to pull out, rewrite, mull over, put away, pull out, rewrite, mull over...I'm not sure if I'll make the six week mark for this particular story. We'll see.

Miss you too!

Jodi

Hi Pamila,
I've been missing you. I hope the redirection is only temporary and turns back this way soon. You take care yourself and hurry back. Harry
