First Love

Posted on March 17, 2009 at 10:33am 3 Comments

He stole her youth - she was young and naive. He was older - he made her laugh, and promised to love her forever. He was her first love - she believed in him. She got pregnant - they got married. He cheated on her for years – she was the last to know. Twenty-one years later - she still celebrates the day her divorce was final.

Where do they go in the daytime?

Seems I never see them around.

Maybe they’re not that obvious,

Or they don’t want to be found.

If they were standing right next to me,

Wouldn’t I know somehow?

Don’t they look different from you and me?

I was sure they did, until now.

They are the poor and homeless,

With no place to call their own,

I’ve seen them sleeping in the streets,

A cardboard box their home.

In another place and time.

Maybe the human spirit lives on,

And dejavu is a sign.

Events are chillingly accurate,

Welcome to 6s!

A children's book author? What imagination and creativity you must have to capture such little eyes and ears. MS. Kate, who is full of moxie and life, and loves to fly blue kites high in the sky, referred me to your page, and I'm so glad to meet you!

I'm looking forward to reading your work, Nancy.
